TGB Hotel Thailand commissioned custom furniture for its public areas: lounge seating, guest relaxation corners, coffee tables and the supporting pieces that tie those spaces together. Public-area furniture lives a harder life than guestroom furniture. It gets used around the clock, by guests with luggage and guests with coffee, and it shapes the first impression the lobby makes.
We covered the program from design optimization through material selection, production, inspection and delivery. The client brought an interior design concept; our job was to turn it into furniture that matched the look on paper and still performed in a commercial setting.
The design language is modern hospitality with a natural leaning: upholstered lounge chairs, curved sofas, round coffee tables and reception-style seating, built from wood, weave and soft textiles. For a property in Thailand, that palette is more than an aesthetic choice. Natural materials and breathable weave suit the climate, and they read as belonging to the place rather than imported from a catalogue.
The lounge chairs carry the most character: wooden frames with woven backrest panels and soft upholstered cushions. The weave does real work in a warm climate, letting air move where a solid panel would not, while the cushions handle comfort. Solid wood carries the structure; upholstery carries the contact points.
The sofa runs on a curved silhouette with soft fabric upholstery. In an open lobby, a curve is more than styling: it frames a seating zone without walls and keeps sightlines open across the space, which is why curved seating keeps coming back in hotel design.
The coffee tables pair wood surfaces with metal structures. Round was the right call: no corners in high-traffic areas, and circular pieces regroup easily when the lounge needs to open up for a group or an event. The metal legs also take the knocks from luggage carts and cleaning equipment better than timber alone would.
Each product was customized to the client's design requirements, functional needs and project specifications, with the details settled in discussion before production rather than after delivery problems. Concept, materials, finishes and dimensions were locked early, so the pieces that arrived matched the pieces that were approved.
Production ran through material selection, precision woodworking, upholstery, surface finishing and structural testing, with each item inspected for stability, durability and finish before shipment. Woven backrests get a specific check: weave tension and edge anchoring are where woven pieces fail first, long before frames do.
Contract-grade furniture is built to a different standard than residential pieces, and this project was engineered accordingly: heavier-duty structures, materials chosen for cleaning regimes and constant use, and finishes selected to keep their appearance through years of daily traffic rather than months.
The finished spaces show what custom manufacturing adds to a hotel public area: furniture that follows the design concept instead of approximating it from a catalogue. Guests get seating that is comfortable and distinctive. The operator gets pieces that hold up and stay consistent across the space.
